The winning ticket was sold in South Carolina. The winner has not yet come forward to claim their prize. If the winner chooses to take the annuity option, they will receive $1.1 billion in 29 annual payments. If they choose the cash option, they will receive a lump sum of $550.2 million.

The Mega Millions jackpot had been growing for weeks, as no one had matched all six numbers in the previous 29 drawings. The jackpot had been capped at $1 billion, but it increased to $1.1 billion because of the number of additional tickets that were sold.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302.58 million. The next Mega Millions drawing will be held on Friday, August 5th. The jackpot for that drawing will be an estimated $20 million.
