Bills Beat Colts in Preseason Opener Behind Matt Barkley’s Strong Performance

The Buffalo Bills opened their preseason campaign with a 23-19 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday afternoon. Quarterback Matt Barkley led the way for the Bills, throwing for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

Barkley was efficient throughout the game, completing 14 of his 15 pass attempts. He connected with wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie for a 10-yard touchdown in the first quarter and with tight end Dawson Knox for a 15-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

The Bills’ defense also played well, forcing two turnovers and holding the Colts to just 19 points. Cornerback Dane Jackson intercepted a pass from Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson in the first quarter, and safety Damar Hamlin forced a fumble that was recovered by linebacker Tremaine Edmunds in the fourth quarter.

The Colts got a strong performance from their own rookie quarterback, as Richardson threw for 170 yards and a touchdown. However, he also threw two interceptions, including one that was returned for a touchdown by Jackson.

The Bills’ running game was also effective, as Latavius Murray rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown. The Colts’ running game was held in check by the Bills’ defense, as they only rushed for 75 yards.
