Broncos WR Tim Patrick Tears Achilles, Out for 2023 Season

Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick suffered a torn Achilles in his left leg during practice on Monday, sources confirmed to ESPN. The injury will likely sideline Patrick for the entire 2023 season.

Patrick, 28, was making a cut during a 7-on-7 drill when he felt the injury. He was immediately carted off the field and taken to the hospital for further evaluation. An MRI confirmed the torn Achilles.

The injury is a major blow to the Broncos, who were counting on Patrick to be a key contributor in their passing game this season. Patrick had a breakout season in 2021, catching 61 passes for 756 yards and four touchdowns. He was also a reliable target for quarterback Russell Wilson, who signed with the Broncos in the offseason.

Patrick’s injury leaves the Broncos with a thin wide receiver corps. Courtland Sutton is the team’s top receiver, but he has also been injured in recent years. KJ Hamler is another option, but he has been limited by injuries as well.

The Broncos will likely look to the free agent market or the draft to add depth at wide receiver. In the meantime, they will need Sutton and Hamler to stay healthy and step up in Patrick’s absence.
