Gerrard Gets First Win as Al Ettifaq Come From Behind to Beat Al Nassr

Al Ettifaq came from behind to beat Al Nassr 2-1 in their opening match of the Saudi Pro League on Friday, with new manager Steven Gerrard getting off to a winning start.

Sadio Mane gave Al Nassr the lead in the fourth minute, but Al Ettifaq responded with goals from Robin Quaison and Moussa Dembele in the second half.

The win was a big relief for Gerrard, who had been under pressure after a disappointing start to his tenure at Al Ettifaq. The former Liverpool and Rangers manager had lost his opening two games in charge, including a 3-0 defeat to Al Hilal in the King Cup.

But Gerrard’s side showed great character to come back from behind against Al Nassr, and the win will give them a much-needed boost of confidence.

Quaison was the star of the show for Al Ettifaq, scoring the equaliser in the 53rd minute and setting up Dembele for the winner in the 71st minute. The Swedish international was a constant threat throughout the game, and he will be hoping to build on his performance in the coming weeks.

Dembele also impressed on his debut for Al Ettifaq, scoring his first goal for the club with a cool finish in the 71st minute. The French striker will be hoping to continue his good form in the coming weeks, and he could be a key player for Al Ettifaq in their quest to challenge for the title.

Gerrard will be delighted with his side’s performance, and he will be hoping that they can build on this result in their next game against Al Hilal. The two teams will meet again in the King Cup final on September 18, and Gerrard will be looking to avenge his side’s defeat in the first leg.
