Brown, 26, is coming off a career year in which he averaged 23.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. He was also named to the All-NBA Second Team for the first time in his career.

The extension will keep Brown under contract with the Celtics through the 2028-29 season. He will be 31 years old at the end of the deal.

“Jaylen Brown is one of the most versatile and talented players in the NBA,” Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens said in a statement. “He is a great scorer, defender, and playmaker, and he is only going to get better. We are thrilled to have him signed for the next six years.”

Brown has been a key part of the Celtics’ resurgence in recent years. He has helped the team reach the Eastern Conference Finals in each of the past two seasons, and he is now one of the most important players in the NBA.

The extension is a major win for the Celtics, who are looking to build a championship contender around Brown and Jayson Tatum. The two players are one of the most dynamic duos in the league, and they have the potential to lead the Celtics to multiple championships in the years to come.
