Messi’s Stunning Goals Lead Inter Miami to Leagues Cup Quarterfinals

Lionel Messi continued his stellar form for Inter Miami on Sunday, scoring two stunning goals to lead his team to a 2-2 draw with FC Dallas in the Leagues Cup quarterfinals. The match went to penalties, and Inter Miami won 4-2 to advance to the next round.


Messi opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a brilliant free kick from 25 yards out. The ball curled past the wall and into the top corner of the net, giving Inter Miami a 1-0 lead.

Dallas equalized again in the 82nd minute through Franco Jara, but Inter Miami held on to force penalties. In the shootout, Inter Miami converted all four of their penalties, while Dallas missed two.

Messi’s two goals were his third and fourth in the Leagues Cup this season. He has also scored three goals in MLS play. The 35-year-old Argentine is showing no signs of slowing down, and he is proving to be a major asset for Inter Miami.

The victory over Dallas is a big step for Inter Miami in their quest to win the Leagues Cup. The team will face the winner of the match between Cruz Azul and Santos Laguna in the semifinals.
