Pence was speaking at the Des Moines Register’s Political Soapbox at the fair when a man in the crowd stood up and asked him, “Why did you commit treason on Jan. 6?”

Pence responded by saying that he did not commit treason, and that he had simply followed his oath to the Constitution.

“I did my duty on that day,” Pence said. “I upheld my oath to the Constitution, and I will always uphold my oath to the Constitution.”

The crowd cheered Pence’s response, and the man who had accused him of treason was booed and drowned out.

Pence’s speech at the Iowa State Fair came just days after former President Donald Trump was indicted by a grand jury in Georgia on charges of conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Trump has repeatedly urged Pence to overturn the election results, and he has even called on his supporters to “hang” Pence for refusing to do so.

Pence has said that he will not be intimidated by Trump or his supporters, and that he will continue to uphold his oath to the Constitution.

“I will never violate my oath,” Pence said. “I will never betray my country.”

Pence’s speech at the Iowa State Fair was met with mixed reactions. Some people praised him for standing up to Trump and his supporters, while others accused him of being a coward.

However, there is no doubt that Pence’s speech was a significant moment in the ongoing political battle over the 2020 election.

It remains to be seen how the events of Jan. 6 will ultimately be judged by history, but Pence’s speech at the Iowa State Fair is a reminder that the battle over the election is far from over.
