Sherri Shepherd paid tribute to her former “The View” co-creator Bill Geddie on Monday, saying that he “absolutely changed my life.”
Geddie died on Thursday at the age of 68. He was a co-creator of “The View” and served as its executive producer for 17 seasons.

Shepherd, who was a co-host on “The View” from 2007 to 2014, said that Geddie was a “champion” for her and helped her to find her voice.
“He was always there for me,” Shepherd said on Monday’s episode of “The View.” “He got on me to speak up at this table and be a part of it.”
Shepherd recalled a time when she made a flub on the show and was worried about having to apologize. Geddie told her that she didn’t need to apologize, and that “if we went on and apologized for everything we said, this would be called the apology show.”
Shepherd said that Geddie’s advice helped her to “own her power” and to be more confident on the show.

“He absolutely changed my life,” Shepherd said. “He was a mentor, a friend, and a champion.”
Geddie’s death was a shock to the “The View” family. Whoopi Goldberg, who has been a co-host on the show since its inception, said that Geddie was “a big deal in TV, but at home he was an even ‘bigger than life’ husband and dad.”
Geddie’s family said in a statement that he was “a pioneer in television and greatly beloved by The View family.” They said that he “will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, and all who knew him.”
